CocoVinny, Episode #93

CocoVinny

CocoVinny Alvidar is an inventor, zero-waste educator, and CEO of CocoTaps. After founding a variety of business ventures over the past 20 years, CocoVinny will spend the rest of his career as The Chief Coconut-In-Charge at CocoTaps.com.

It all started after Vinny broke one of his Dad’s expensive knives trying to open a coconut. He realized there was nothing on the market that offered a no-mess, no-stress way to drink from a coconut that is ocean-safe compostable. No bottles, no cans, no pollution—just fresh tapped coconuts. It’s all about partnering with mother nature with great taste and zero waste.

His goal is to disrupt the status quo and innovate the coconut hydration industry by tapping into resorts, retail, theme parks, and cruise ships. Any places that currently serve artificial plastic packaged and processed coconut water will soon become Coco Taps customers.

CocoVinny has even been featured on The Profit and Shark Tank. Listen in for some takeaways about the journey of an entrepreneur and his passion to create a company that will produce zero waste while hydrating the world.

Why CocoVinny became an entrepreneur

CocoVinny got his entrepreneurial spirit from his father, who was a brilliant visionary who simply didn’t have the team or skills to execute his ideas. He was a Marine who served in Vietnam who always had a mission.

When his father went to prison, CocoVinny sought out different mentors to grow in those areas. He was eager to learn. He learned and developed skills in business, health and wellness, and even music.

In this digital age, you can seek out mentors that you aspire to be like and learn from them on YouTube, social media, etc. You can learn a lot without even having a conversation with them. Eventually, you can come full circle and become a mentor to someone else.

CocoTaps zero-waste philosophy

People believe that it’s more expensive to be environmentally friendly, but CocoVinny emphasizes that it isn’t true. If you’re using the right circular economic model, when you throw something away, you’re losing money. Those are resources that can be used. His philosophy is about saving money and saving the planet.

CocoTaps eliminates toxic materials and plastics that can’t be recycled or reused. It’s a way of life. From the farms to the customer to the end, they think of it all. They’re even developing strategies to take the used coconuts to create an end product so there’s no waste.

Why belief is CocoVinny’s biggest currency

Any champion gets knocked down. You have to get up and dust yourself off. CocoVinny listens to motivational music, speakers—whatever resonates to keep him going. CocoVinny is passionate about helping people and giving them hope.

He came from nothing and was homeless at one point in his life. He notes that everyone is dealt a different hand and you have to play what you’re dealt instead of looking at someone else’s hand. You can’t embrace a “woe is me” attitude. Play the hand you’re dealt and be grateful for it.

What you think, what you speak, and what you believe becomes your reality. CocoVinny had everyone on Shark Tank close their eyes and imagine they were on a coconut farm in Hawaii. It was a manifestation of what’s happening now. It doesn’t matter if anyone else believes in you as long as you do. If you have the faith and motivation to grind every day, it will become reality.

Coco Taps is the world’s first patented #zerowaste coconut water removal system with ocean safe, backyard compostable Taps, making coconut water fun convenient and better for the planet.

Coco Taps has created the zero waste ultimate vacation beverage B2B distribution that’s now in most major 5 star resorts, juice bars, restaurants, and often part of music festivals in Las Vegas and beyond. Our goal is to disrupt the status quo and innovate the coconut hydration industry by tapping into resorts, retail, theme parks, and cruise ships. Any places that currently serve artificial plastic packaged and processed coconut water will soon become Coco Taps customers.

It all started one day when CocoVinny broke his dad’s expensive knife while trying to open a coconut. After much research, he realized there was nothing on the market offering a no mess, no stress way to turn a coconut into an all-natural, drinkable & resealable container. Bottled and canned drinks for me never justified all natural taste of coconut water. This is how Coco Taps was born!
