Mitlin Financial Supports Sandy Victims through Long Island Cares

(HAUPPAUGE, New York) For many Long Island residents, the devastating effects of Superstorm Sandy will change some of the ways they celebrate this year’s holiday season. Hauppauge-based small business owner Lawrence Sprung of Mitlin Financial has altered his longstanding custom of sending clients a holiday gift, instead purchasing much-needed food and supplies and delivering them to Long Island Cares, the Harry Chapin food bank, in his clients’ names.

“Service is the hallmark of our company, whether providing our clients with financial insights or giving back to those in need on the Island,” remarked Lawrence Sprung, CFP®, President of Mitlin Financial. “Our community has a long road of recovery ahead and we are glad to be part of the relief effort.” Sprung purchased several pallets of items, ranging from packaged food, shampoo, diapers, paper plates and cleaning supplies to kid’s toys, gloves and scarves and brought them to Long Island Cares in Mid-November.

“The holidays have always been about giving back, and Mr. Sprung’s decision to reallocate the funds from his traditional holiday gifts to his clients personifies that spirit, said Elana Sissons, Food Drive Coordinator with Long Island Cares, Inc. “The generosity of our donors, from homegrown local businesses to organizations across the country, has been overwhelming. We’re working around the clock to get those supplies to the more than 580 food pantries, food kitchens, emergency shelters and others that we serve on Long Island.”
