A Background That Shapes Him
Jorrell grew up in Harlem in a household rooted in responsibility and service. His mother was a New York City Police officer who completed the academy while pregnant with Jorrell, and he often jokes that the NYPD may owe him a badge. His father was an MTA bus driver before becoming a pastor. Jorrell has shared that these are the two civil servants who inspire him to be the best version of myself every day.
Jorrell has written openly about his upbringing and how, as a young black man coming from his socioeconomic background and neighborhood, the odds were he would not see 25. But his parents worked diligently to make sure that was not his reality.
Many around him saw limited paths forward. He learned that outcomes follow preparation and that no one builds a future by waiting.
Jorrell’s approach to wealth planning did not start with spreadsheets or markets. It started with watching two parents carry responsibility without shortcuts. This is part of what fuels his belief that financial planning should be grounded in real life and that generational change is possible.
From Athlete’s Dream to Advisor’s Purpose
Like many kids around him, Jorrell believed sports were the way out. He chased that dream with everything he had. He trained. He competed. He walked on to a Division I football program at West Virginia University.
Jorrell became the first in his family to earn a college degree, graduating from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance.
When professional sports did not become his future, Jorrell adjusted. He began to notice how many people reach the end of one chapter without a plan for the next. He saw how easily talent and earnings disappear without guidance. Financial planning became the place where discipline, preparation, and long-term thinking wove together.
Jorrell learned what pressure feels like, and those lessons serve as a compass as he helps families. Financial planning became the place where preparation, discipline, and long-term thinking met real impact.

Jorrell has grown by doing the work. He builds relationships through listening first. He explains without hiding behind jargon. Families trust him because he explains decisions in plain language and follows through.
