Learn more about Tiffany Blackmon and her brand

Tiffany spent an entire career building and supporting other brands. During that journey, she learned that she had a gift. When Tiffany was 54, she decided it was time to do something for herself. It was time to grow her own brand.

But the “how” was a lot to wrap her mind around. So she surrounded herself with people who understood social media and technology. She started posting on Instagram. One year later, a friend approached her about starting a podcast.

Tiffany doesn’t feel like being an entrepreneur is her love language. But she’s driven to succeed. She wants to teach men and women that you can pursue your passions at any age. You simply need passion and work ethic.

How the My So-Called Fabulous podcast came to be

When Tiffany’s friend approached her about starting a podcast her first thought was, “What’s a podcast?” But she learned quickly. They started talking about it in 2019 and launched it in 2020. They’re launching season six now and have over 150 episodes spanning topics like food, fitness, beauty, cooking, and much more.

Why did she name it “My So-Called Fabulous?” Tiffany jokes it’s because she uses the word “fabulous” a lot. But she also wanted to share her success and failures. She wanted her podcast to allow others to learn from her struggles and realize they weren’t alone in theirs.

What platforms have been the most effective to grow her brand?

Tiffany has been on Facebook since it existed. But when she launched her brand, she focused on Instagram to get her recipes and books out there. In 2019, Instagram was all about beautiful pictures. Instagram has not only generated new followers but has been her best route to monetizing her podcast.

Tiffany points out that It is a full-time business—not a hobby. She has to pay the people that work for her and has to monetize it. She’s recently seen a lot of growth on TikTok. In the beginning, Tiffany questioned who’d watch a 58-year-old’s videos on TikTok but she’s seen continued success.

Tiffany’s advice for those who want to turn their passion into a business

Tiffany states “Life is short, so just do it.” But she also says there are some important things to consider, mainly, is it financially feasible? Tiffany worked through an entire career before she was able to financially swing focusing on her passion.

And she notes that once you decide to dive in, you have to remember that things won’t happen overnight. Why not let your full-time job support your passion and start saving money so that you can make the move toward your passion? You need to be financially stable first.

Secondly, you have to be passionate about what you’re doing. If you’re passionate, you will find a way to do it. You may have to start slowly but never give up.
